Baked Sesame Seed Flatbread. It is a must-order item.
A Flatbread is cut into 2 halves, we put some meats and vegetables into the bread.
Fried vegetable with dry scallop, a bit oily.
Peking Duck is a signature dish here.
Soup
of duck bone with vegetable. Sorry, we forget to take photo in the
beginning. $26 only. This soup should be called "MSG soup", in fact.
Duck Meat fried with Bean Sprouts $26 only
Stir-fried egg white with fish meat and dry scallop
Braised duck liver with black fungus. Black fungus is covered by duck liver.
Free dessert - Fried red bean bun
Decoration is old-fashioned and traditional. It is not easy to find a similar one in Hong Kong.

We
have not met for a long time, and finally decided to dine in Peking
Restaurant, instead of Spring Deer Restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui Mody
Road. Peking Restaurant is not that Peking Garden Restaurant (北京樓) which
is operated by Maxim’s Group. Peking Restaurant is an old restaurant of
more than 20 years history. Decoration is quite old-fashioned and
traditional; it is not easy to find similar old decoration in Hong Kong
again. Apart from the decoration, the waiters are all uncle-typed guys
of more than 50. It seems that we have entered the “Time Tunnel”. The
Tourist Association should have introduced Peking Restaurant. Every time
we dined here, there must be quite a lot of foreigners.
We have
not ordered the dinner set for 6 persons. If you want to try Peking
duck, you have to order separately. We ordered “Baked sesame Seed
Flatbread”, “Fried vegetable with dry scallop”, “Peking duck” $325,
“Soup of duck bone with vegetable”, “Duck meat slices fried with Bean
Sprouts”, “Stir-fried egg white with fish meat and dry scallop”, and
“Braised duck liver with black fungus”. The bill is $713 (average per
head $103).
“Baked sesame Seed Flatbread” is suggested to order. A
Flatbread is cut into 2 halves, we put some meats and vegetables into
the bread. “Soup of duck bone with vegetable” and “Duck meat slices
fried with Bean Sprouts” are derivatives of “Peking duck”, we only pay
extra $26 for each dish. Free dessert “Fried red bean bun” is served.
There is no need to order extra dessert normally.
Peking
Restaurant can still maintain its food quality and style. To me, this is
not the most delicious Peking restaurant in Hong Kong and it is an
average restaurant only. Spring Deer and Peking Garden Restaurant should
be better. But Spring Deer is always full and it is needed to have one
week advance booking. In Peking Garden Restaurant, the price point is
higher.
Some people always complained that the service in Peking
Restaurant is very poor. I interpret it is the direct expression of
those old guys. They are guys of former generation and not prepared to
speak good words to please anybody. Peking Restaurant is cramped, you
cannot find any trace of comfortable feeling. This is quite common in
Hong Kong. The toilet is very small as well.
