Pan-fried Green Pepper Stuffed with Fish Meat is only a snack to us, before we order the main course.
Soup
of Fish Head with Tianma and Sea Bird $88 is one of the signature items
in Shunde cuisine. The soup has been steamed for several hours. There
is a strong flavor of Tianma and Sea Bird (its flavor is quite similar
to that of Sea Horse ).
Function of Sea Bird is to replenish calcium in our bone and to
strengthen the kidney (in Chinese Herbalist sense). This soup is a must
order item. Small-sized pot is sufficient for 4 persons. It is
particularly good for person who always has headache.
Fish head in Ginger and Green Onion is tasty. It should also be a signature item in Shunde cuisine, and is the second must-try.
Steamed
Catfish with Young Ginger and Black Olive. The Catfish has weight of 28
teals and costs $252 ($9 per teal). Young ginger and black olive of
course can further enhance fish taste. The meat is tender. This portion
is sufficient for 6 persons in fact. Most fishes here are imported from Guangxi, China.
Braised Lettuce with Sea Cucumber and Black Mushroom in Hot Pot
Daliang Fried Fresh Milk $68 does not have the target taste in our mind.
Shunde Steamed Golden Cake $28 is free to us. There is no extra oil,
if the cake is steamed. It is even more delicious than the same in St.
Honore www.sthonore.com/ in Chinese New Year.
It should be a medium size Chinese food restuarant.
Catfish is not small is size. One piece is enough for 6 persons. Its appearance is not so attractive.

Opening Hours: Daily
Style: Guangdong Shunde
Average spending: $140
Date: April 2007
Remarks: 10% service charges
We want to try Shunde Fish cuisine again. This time, we choose this
Shun De restaurant in Woosung Street instead of the one in Wylie Road.
Thought Woosung Street and Wylie Road are under different companies and
bosses, the bosses know each other well.
We
order 6 dishes and the bill is $728 (average per head $182). In
comparison, the service in the Woosung Street is better, while the food
is more delicious in Wylie Road. Though the lady boss treats us a
dessert (Steamed Golden Cake ), and waives the 10% service charges (totally we save up ~$100), we still prefer the one in Wylie Road.
