Pan Roast Salmon $175 is the best dish in the meal. Salmon is fresh
enough (its surface is a bit crisp) and served with chorizo cream
sauce. They are cooked to perfection.
Pumpkin Risotto, Rocket & Goat’s Cheese $170 gets a recommended
pass only. Rice is in too small portion, too soft and not chewy. This
rice is overpriced for sure.
Beetroot Salad $88 comes with goat’s cheese, wild leaves, beans and
sweet potatoes. It is refreshing, together with nice taste of vinegar.

The Pawn is a new restaurant in a semi-historic setting, opened in
early April 2008, in Wanchai. Since there are very few modern offerings
in old settings in Hong Kong , this makes The Pawn unique. The building
itself dates back to 1888 and was formerly occupied by the Woo Cheong Pawn Shop (和昌大押).

We
visit 'The Dining Room' just after its opening in early April, and are
luckily allotted a table on the balcony, overseeing the view of Johnston
Road and Southorn Playground. It gives us a leisured dining
environment. Servers are trained to provide good service to diners, but they are still not professional enough (in view of the grading in the restaurant).
We
order salad, 2 dishes and a bottle of natural mineral water, the bill
is $550 (average per head $275). Frankly speaking, food taste is average
only and price relatively high. But this can be compensated by its old
settings and food display .
Food materials are surely fresh. We can feel that they try hard to
offer the best available to diners. If a table indoors were allotted, it
would become not worthwhile. As a tip, you must reserve a table on the
balcony in your next try.
