How mulberry leaves lower blood pressure
1. Lowering blood pressure: Mulberry leaves are rich in γ-aminobutyric acid. Food science research has found that this ingredient has a significant blood pressure lowering effect with no side effects. At the same time, ingredients such as rutin, quercetin, and quercetin in mulberry leaves can increase the contractility and output of the heart, reduce heart rate, and further lower blood pressure.
2. Lowering blood lipids: The flavonoids in mulberry leaves have the effect of strengthening capillaries and reducing blood viscosity. In addition, mulberry leaf tea also contains ingredients that resist LDL-lipoprotein oxidation in the body, which helps to lose weight, improve hyperlipidemia, and prevent myocardial infarction and cerebral hemorrhage.
3. Lowering blood sugar: Alkaloids and polysaccharides in mulberry leaves are their main blood sugar lowering ingredients. Studies have found that the hypoglycemic effect of mulberry leaves is achieved through two pathways: first, the alkaloid DNJ (1-deoxynojirimycin) inhibits the activity of disaccharide-degrading enzymes, thereby inhibiting the absorption of disaccharides by the small intestine and reducing the peak blood sugar level after a meal; second, mulberry leaf alkaloids (fagomine) and mulberry leaf polysaccharides promote cell secretion of insulin, and insulin can promote cell utilization of sugar, liver glycogen synthesis, and improve sugar metabolism, ultimately achieving the effect of lowering blood sugar.
