I remembered when I was studying at the university, there are three functions of promotion, they are information, persuasion (reinforcement), and reminder. They are informing, persuading, and reminding consumers about a company and its products. Promotion is beneficial to a company because sellers expect the use of promotion to increase the sales of their products or services.
Before a piece of product information is conveyed to a potential customer, it must be to inform the customer of the existence of this product. After a while, we need to persuade the customer that this is a good product and reinforce the properties of this product can enhance the life quality of this customer. Later, we need to remind the customer that the product is waiting for his purchase.
If you do not keep on doing promotions, one or all of these functions will be missed, resulting that we may not be able to increase the sales of products. Some people for whatever reason would like to skip promotions, in the hope of reducing company expenditures. But they should have not known that sales and promotions are always side-by-side. It is not possible to get good sales at the same time with no output of resources, i.e. without doing any promotion. You are advised to remember that sales and promotion should happen and be done together.
