Water hyacinth is native to southern China, Taiwan, India, Vietnam, Sumatra, Indonesia, and other places.
Water hyacinths are seeds, which are edible. The cooked seeds taste like chestnuts, but chestnuts are much better.
This is the first time I have eaten and seen water hyacinth fruit. I may have seen it before, but I didn't pay attention.
I always feel that water hyacinth is very similar to predaceous diving beetles (an insect).
