About Chef Thomas Chai
Chef Thomas Chai is the Regional Executive Chef (Asia Pacific) for Givaudan, the leading company in the flavours and fragrance industry. He also frequently appears on television where he demonstrates and shares his culinary passion and knowledge.
He was formerly the Executive Chef of award-winning Jade Restaurant located in the historic and grand Fullerton Hotel in Singapore, and worked in establishments such as the Four Seasons and Hyatt. He mentored closely under celebrity chef Sam Leong, who is himself award-winning and is the Director of Kitchens and Corporate Chef of the Tung Luk Group.
Chef Thomas has a wealth of experience, having participated in numerous international gourmet events such as 21st America Food & Wine Festival, Los Angeles, USA 2003; Masters of Australian Food and Wine 2002 in Melbourne; St. Moritz Gourmet Festival in Switzerland 2002 and The Five Star Sensation in Cleveland, Ohio.
He has also been awarded a Gold Distinction Award in the 4th World Championship of Chinese Cuisine 2002 in Malaysia; been nominated for the award of Heinz Asian Ethnic Chef of the Year, by World Gourmet Summit Singapore 2005; and received nominations for the award of Rising Chef of the Year, by World Gourmet Summit Singapore in 2004 and 2005.
