Rajadamnern
Stadium – the Ultimate Muay Thai Arena, was built in 1941. At that
time, the expected construction cost was 258,900 Baht (~HK$65,000).
Owing to the lack of construction supplies during the World War II, the
project was forced to stop. After the War, the Stadium was constructed.
Thereafter, there is no more re-construction, until today.
Rajadamnern
Stadium, having nearly 70 years history, is located in a spot not too
far away from Khao Shan Road or the Grand Palace. Or, it is better to
take a taxi. You may buy ticket by yourself or through travel agency.
There
are tickets of three prices for tourists and foreigners - 1,000, 1,500
and 2,000 Baht. At the box office, a Thai young staff that is hired by
the stadium and can speak in fluent English will help. You may ask
whatever questions about Thai Boxing.
For
tickets to foreigners and tourists, it should be five to eight times
higher in price. In my experience, ticket price of 1,500 Baht is
alright.
Before the start of any fight today, there are not too many audiences.
There is one umpire on each side. Ticket price next to the stage is 2,000 Baht.
Some fights are quite exciting.

for the physical figure of Thai. If the boxer is taller or fatter, it
would affect the performance, in terms of swiftness and response. Their
height should be no more than 172cm, in my observation.
Boxer would be massaged and drink water in the two minutes interval.
Normally,
for those weekly fights in the preliminary stage, winner can only get
an award of very small amount or just a tangiable gift. Only large
amount of money as award would be available at the final fight.
Local audiences are mostly men, they bet through mobile phone. Outside and above the net, the price for foreigner is 1,000 Baht.
