Batad is a very important scenic spot in Banaue, Luzon, Philippines. Trip to Batad takes practically the whole day or some travellers would spend one night in Batad. Approximately 16 kms from Banaue Trade Centre (it means Banaue town centre), 12 kms of which is travelled by transportation (Jeep or tricycle) and rest of the distance is traversed by hiking on mountain trails for almost 2 hours. It is recommended to strong hikers. Batad boasts of contoured and amphi-theater like rice terraces.
Batad is in fact a rice terrace cluster in a valley, surrounded by mountains. It is a good habitat for the farmers. Thanks to the Philippines Government, they have done something to protect and restore Batad rice terraces to its original appearance. Since travel to Batad from Manila is not convenient and is quite time consuming, Batad up till now can still be protected. If there are a lot of travellers or transportation is more convenient, the natural environment of Banaue would inevitably be affected or ruined. Yes, it is a dilemma.
Contoured and amphi-theater like rice terraces in Batad.
Their houses are built in the middle and on both sides of the rice terraces.
If there is sunlight, the pictures would be more impressive.
There are about six family members in each house. The house is in fact both living room and dining room. There is no partition inside.
They live harmoniously with other villagers.
In Banaue, it is a world different from Manila, the people here lead a very slow pace of life.
We can walk around in each piece of rice terrace. The villagers are amiable and welcome all visitors.
With sunlight, it becomes vivid.
Provided the photo is in focus, it will be beautiful.
