Banaue, in the middle of Luzon Island, is widely known as the site of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Banaue Rice Terraces. Rice terraces are commonly referred to by Filipinos as the Eighth Wonder of the World. Banaue is the only place in the Philippines awarded the Gold Medal in Hillman Wonders of the World - Philippines Wonder Guide. Only 1% of the world's 100,000 travel attractions win gold, silver or bronze medal in Hillman Wonders of the World. In the Philippines, even Boracay and Intramuros can only get a Honorable Mention (a travel attraction can get neither gold, silver nor bronze medal).
To me, three scenic spots in Banaue must be visited, namely Batad Rice Terrances, Hapao Rice Terraces and Bangaan Village. Rice terraces in the Philippines are different from those in other countries. When We are on Hapao Rice Terraces, I have to keep silent, use my eyes to see and enjoy the beautiful nature, and to take photos.
When we arrive at Hapao, it is raining. Luckily and later on, the sky becomes clear and the sun comes out from behind the clouds. I am sorry that the feeling in Hapao is much more astonishing than to see the photos here.
