Banaue,
in the middle of Luzon Island, is widely known as the site of the
UNESCO World Heritage Site Banaue Rice Terraces. Rice terraces are
commonly referred to by Pilipinos as the Eighth Wonder of the World.
Banaue is the only place in the Philippines awarded the Gold Medal in
Hillman Wonders of the World-Philippines Wonder Guide. Only 1s of the
worlds 100, 000 travel attractions win gold, silver or bronze medal in
Hillman Wonders of the World. In the Philippines, even Boracay and
Intramuros (www.intramurosadministration.com) can only get a Honorable
Mention (a travel attraction can get neither gold, silver nor bronze
medal).
In
Banaue, the three most famous and magnificent rice terraces are Batad,
Bangaan and Hapao. Batad and Hapao have been introduced before. Bangaan
is a small village, there is no need to spend one length in Bangaan,
just a journey of several hours is enough. But it is of the same beauty
level with Batad and Hapao. Yes, they all are fascinating.
Opposite
to the above ' Bangaan Family In & Canteen ', it is the entrance to
Bangaan Rice Terraces. It is below the road level and takes about 15 to
30 minutes by walk.
Bangaan Village is in the valley and surrounded by hills.
About 20 families are living in the village.
It is like a green carpet.
Please pay attention to the houses of green roof.
It is the refreshment area (coffee shop) we would stay for a while thereafter.
Yes, it is this coffee shop in Bangaan Village.
There
are other stuffs to order, but we have ordered two cups of tea only. We
are in fact not hungry and thirsty, it is just for fun.
The government has already tried their ' best ' to preserve the rice terraces. Please infer by yourself.
