
We
see quite a lot of chicken in the field near Batad Pension and of
course would like to eat at least one piece during these days. We
finally decided to have a chicken rice breakfast. We order this ' Whole
Native Chicken '.

It
should have been steamed and then grilled for a while. The outlook is
not so alluring. But we know it is a live chicken. Frankly, this chicken
is quite ridiculous in appearance. We do not expect it will be served
in such a way.

It
is rich in chicken flavor but it is not juicy enough. In Batad (rural
area in the Philippines), we do not expect the chicken would be very
delicious and I can do much better than them.

In
rice terraces, rice is a must to order and eat. Rice is not
white-colored enough, it should be the natural colour of plain rice, in
our mind. Chicken soup is served in cup.

Soy sauce and oat are for enhancing the taste.

We
would like to have something different in the breakfast and think of
whether it is possible to have chicken and rice in the morning. We have
to order the chicken one day in advance. Cooking in Banaue is a slow
motion process. It takes quite a long time.
Beforehand,
we do not know how the chicken will be cooked and also have not
requested how the chicken should be cooked. We only want to experience
the local cooking style of a live chicken. The chicken should have been
steamed and then grilled for a while. We have to use a knife to cut the
chicken into small pieces. It is of course not so delicious as what we
have in Hong Kong. It is already a good experience. To visit rice
terraces, it is a must to eat/try the plain rice. We are glad to try the
local foods in Banaue. I am confident I can prepare tastier chicken
