We would like to try in a Japanese restaurant we have not tried before in Tsim Sha Tsui. Sushi Tokumi is located in a food building, H8 at Hau Fook Street. The restaurant is not too large and it is a bit packed. Anyway, the ambiance is acceptable.
Most lunch sets are pictured in the menu. It is easy to select your favourites. We order pork cutlet set and minced tuna set. We have a feeling of surprise that pricing is generally very reasonable. It should be more or less similar to that of Tsui Wah Restaurant. I really do not know what will happen for a lunch of such pricing.
Food portion is generous definitely. Besides the main dish, each set comes with pickles, salad, soup, steamed egg and dessert, which are all in the right track. This means the taste is alright and we have nothing to complain. But for the main dishes, both are served with rice. Initially, we do have a special response, it is not a pleasing one. But we really cannot tell in the very beginning. Later on, we realized that it is the overnight cooked rice, which is loose in texture and of course completely different from the sticky and bouncy rice texture we experience in other authentic Japanese restaurants. The minced tuna seems to have no taste, we really do not know the reason(s).
To be a meal set from a Japanese restaurant, the rice and sets should be failed. There should not be any excuse. I am afraid I will not patronize Tokumi again. But quite a lot of diners appreciate this restaurant in the internet, what I can say is nothing and it is better to keep silent.
