Dian Jun Wang Restaurant is a big Chinese restaurant in Kunming.

(U - L) Porcini 牛肝菌, chicken mushroom and frog

Bamboo fungus (upper) 竹荪 and Chinese Yam (lower) 山藥

Pot and oven are clean enough.

Mushrooms have to be boiled for at least 10 minutes to ensure they are fully cooked. Some not-fully cooked mushrooms are poisonous.

Soup is of strong mushroom taste.

Frog is fresh and big in size

Chinese Yam is like potato and absorbs the soup taste.

Nothing is left.

Kitchen is orderly and clean.

關上) is a district where there are many restaurants, the most famous several mushroom restaurants also have their branch here. Dian Jun Wang is quite a big restaurant group, it has totally 4 restaurants in Kunming. The restaurant name has the meaning of “King of Mushroom in Yunnan ”. The one we lunch can serve 500 persons at the same time. Decoration and design of restaurant are very good. It should rank at the top level in Kunming. Dian Jun Wang is quite different from Yunnan Families (雲南人家) in appearance and feeling. Dian Jun Wang is a restaurant of modern appearance, whereas Yunnan Families is decorated with strong Yunnan traditional feel.

Our target to lunch in Dian Jun Wang this time is to eat mushroom hot pot. If you order hot pot, the restaurant would assign a waitress to take care of your table, to put all foods into the pot, and to ensure all foods are fully cooked. Some mushrooms would be poisonous if they are not fully cooked. What you need to do is to see how the waitress puts the mushrooms into the pot and wait for ~10 minutes.

We eat Chinese Yam at the end. The texture becomes soft after boiling for a long time. We have not ordered any rice and other foods. We are enough after eating Chinese Yam as rice at the end. The soup is now rich in mushroom taste, together with the taste of frog meat. We have a sumptuous and delicious lunch of RMB154. We found that it is value for money. We must try again if we visit Kunming next time.
