In
Wanchai, we see a new vegetarian restaurant. In the past, the same
location was also a vegetarian restaurant. We do not know whether the
same owner, who changes the name only, operates it.
The first
impression is that Veggie Palace is neatly decorated and the waitress is
quite polite. In lunchtime, there are not many customers at 13:00.
Maybe, it is newly opened and word-of-month has not yet been
established.
We are assigned a table for 2 and a lunch menu is
passed to us. We guess the owner should have confidence on his cuisines.
It is because in lunchtime, only lunch set ($36) is available. What we
can select is to select 3 out of 4 ingredients in the menu. Besides the 3
ingredients selected, the lunch set includes a vegetable daily soup, a
piece of dessert, chestnut soup and a bowl of plain rice.
A bit
to our surprise, the vegetable daily soup, chestnut soup, dessert, plain
rice, and the small bowl of Ube (Taro) are all in good taste. They
should have put effort in food preparation and seasoning.
If you
have more persons in the dinner, you may book the VIP room, which is in
an isolated (but not closed) area. Though Veggie Palace is not a roomy
vegetarian restaurant, its food is quite good, not oily and has no MSG.
Waitresses are attentive and would frequent refill the tea. There is no
10% service charge in lunchtime. In dinnertime, it becomes a private
dining house, booking is needed. The price at night is $198 per head, at
least 3 persons.
