The restaurant and the street are of reasonable hygiene.
15 small dishes of food, we are surprised when they are placed in front of us.
Waitress puts the above food into the soup.
Finally, rice noodle is put into the soup. Mm.., delicious!!
It tells more about the story of Guo Qiao (cross the bridge).
Apart from noodle, fried rice is available as well.
The restaurant is neatly decorated and arranged.
An advertisement on the wall. Just for fun!
Xin Shi Ji Guo Qiao Yuan (New Century Yunnan Noodle Restaurant) 新世紀過橋園 Middle Section of Xiang Yang Lu, Shangri-la City, Yunnan, PRC. (Next

within Shangri-la City, except to and from the airport.) 中國雲南香格里拉市向陽路中段 (宏豐超市旁) Tel: 86 13988737601 Opening Hours: 0630 – 2100 Daily Style: Yunnan noodle Average spending: RMB6– RMB30 Date: October 2006
In
evening time, we are looking for a restaurant of reasonable and
acceptable hygiene in Shangri-la city. It is because we do not want to
dine in hotel restaurant again. We stroll around in the streets for a
long time and finally decide to eat Yunnan noodle.
Xin
Shi Ji is quite a big restaurant. It can serve 100 customers at the
same time. But in a small advertisement outside the restaurant, Xin Shi
Ji is going to lease a portion of its restaurant to any potential
tenant. Maybe when you visit this Yunnan noodle restaurant next time, the restaurant size would be decreased a lot / a bit.
From
the menu, different kinds of noodle sets and fried rice are available.
In Yunnan, it is of course to try Yunnan noodle, since Yunnan noodle is
the signature cuisine in Yunnan. In fact, we have not yet tried the
traditional Yunnan noodle in our
trip so far in our trip. Though we are hungry, we know the noodle
portion should be quite big. If the food is not enough for us, we may
order additional food in due course. We therefore order one noodle set
of RMB20 only .
We
order a RMB20 Guo Qiao noodle (Meaning is “Cross the bridge noodle”).
In fact, the price of noodle set ranges from RMB6 to RMB60. To our
surprise, before the soup and noodle are placed on our table, there are
15 small
dishes of food. They include bird eggs, ham, sausage, preserved
vegetable, sliced pork, green onion, chicken paw, and sliced cooked
chicken pieces. The waitress helps us place all foods on small dishes
into the soup, and then a big bowl of noodle. At this moment, we realize the food portion must be enough for us.
This
time, we really enjoy the original Yunnan Guo Qiao noodle in Yunnan.
The soup is of course good taste. It is very common for all restaurants
in China to add MSG to foods to increase the taste. The rice noodle has
been cooked fully in advance.
When the noodle is placed into the soup, it is only to re-heat the
noodle before we eat. Though it takes about 20 minutes for us to look
for such restaurant, there is no disappointment. If you travel to
Shangri-la , we recommend you to dine / lunch here.
