Hakka Tofu seems to be a must to order in each meal in Heyuan. But it
is not a must that tofu must be available as sometimes it is sold out.
It is cooked with an alluring brown colour. It is a delectable dish.
Braised Pork is served on top of preserved vegetable. Pork is always
cooked in such manner and colour, in our experience in Heyuan. Except
that it is a bit oily, this is an authentic Hakka dish.
Braised Duck has a relatively bouncy texture. It is cut and steamed
again before serving to us. From the sauce colour, the taste is not bad.
It is like a Steamed Chicken, but in fact we order braised chicken.
Since fresh chicken is a commonplace in Heyuan, the texture of this
chicken is also not bad. But they blame that this chicken is not the one
we order.
Steamed River Fish is definitely fresh. Fresh fish is the
prerequisite. If not, the meat texture would be very horrible. This one
is naturally bouncy. Just adding soy sauce and cooked oil, it becomes a
yummy fish.
Thousand Years Egg has been steamed for a while before serving to us. It is quite strange. Garlic sauce is a bit spicy.
It is only a local eatery in the main street.

Yuan is anyway not a big city, it is not so easy to find eateries
everywhere as in Guangzhou. The time is about three o'clock in the
afternoon. We finally notice this Nong Jia Xiang Restaurant, which is
only a small and local one. We still have to order our dishes in order to re-charge for the rest of the day.
We
order only six dishes, average spending is about thirty only. This
should not be a low spending for the locals. Though at three o'clock in
the afternoon and there are one chef and one server in the eatery (they
should be the owners ),
they can still prepare dishes for us in about twenty minutes after
placing the order. Frankly speaking, I do not have any complaint on the
dishes. Of course, we cannot expect no msg would be added to food.
Including the thousand years egg , all dishes are very hot when served. This is a must to us. It is anyway a not bad late lunch.
