This is the first time we dine in Ding Tai Fung, Hong Kong.
Xiao
Long Bao ($35) is not of very outstanding taste. Maybe, this is the
result that no extra msg has been added. Or, this is the original
natural taste of Xiao Long Bao, it is also the natural taste we prefer.
Steamed Vegetable Dumpling. We can taste the natural flavor of vegetable and mushroom in the stuff.
Stuffed
Beancurd Puff Soup in Vermicelli (油豆腐粉絲湯) is the last item we order and
we do not expect it is an item we like very much, in terms of good
taste and not oily soup.
We do not know whether "Multi-layered
Cake" is a Taiwan item or not. It is a recommended dessert (not too
sweet and oily) in Din Tai Fung.
We do not have big appetite tonight. The take-away bag is lovely.
P.S. We have ordered a fried rice which is a bit oily and is average only.

We
long to have a try in Din Tai Fung (DTF). Owing to its long waiting
time, we hesitate to have a visit. Tonight we do queue up in early
dinnertime, for the only sake of trying Xiao Long Bao. We of course have
tried it in Taipei and cannot find reason of not trying in Hong Kong.
We
are allotted to a table for 2. 5 items are ordered, the bill is $220
(average per head $110). Pricing in DTF is average and not too
expensive, in view of the high rental in TST. Regarding food taste, it
is above average. We cannot say it is very tasty. Maybe, they have not
added a lot of msg to the foods. We in fact prefer such more natural
taste, rather than the very delicious artificial taste.
Xiao Long
Bao in DTF is also above average in taste, though it is served to us in
a very hot condition. But we have not tried Xiao Long Bao in a very
outstanding taste so far. In our experience, the one in DTF has already
ranked in very high level in the market / world. If the waiting time is
shorter, we would have a second try.
