'Deep-fried Grilled Eel Rice Set' instead of the
'Signature' Tonkatsu is ordered. It is served with Japanese plain rice,
miso soup and pickles. Pork has been added to miso soup, which becomes
tastier. FYI, coffee or tea is not included.
It is served in an
attractive appearance, the meat is still juicy and has not yet been
over-cooked. It should be one of the alternatives to Tonkatsu.
'Steamed
Black Pork Rice Set' is not in a too generous portion. It is also
served with Japanese plain rice, pickles and miso soup.
Black
pork is not dry and tough. It is juicy and good in taste. Brown sauce
and soy sauce are the seasonings. If tonkatsu (pork cutlet) is not your
favourite, you may select this steamed pork.

Tonkatsu
Ginza Bairin has its branches in different parts of the world, namely,
Japan, Singapore, Hawaii and Canada. The branch in Hong Kong was in
operation in December 2009. We are lucky that there is no need to queue
up for the meal. But after a table is allotted to us, suddenly there is a
flock of diners in front of the entrance.
Though Bairin is at
the basement of K11, it is anyway quite spacious. There is sufficient
distance among tables and it does not give us a packed bad feeling.
There are a lot of options in the menu. We do not want to order two
deep-fried meal sets, we therefore order one steamed black pork set.
They are displayed in a mouth-watering manner. In fact, both eel and
pork are quite tasty and have the respective taste (of quality food
materials) we expect. Food taste has not yet been localized. We are sure
quality food materials, meat and vegetable, are used in Bairin. Overall
speaking, it does not give us a comment of outstanding performance.
