Smoked Fish $42 is in attractive brown color. It is cooked from fresh fish. The brown sauce is a bit too concentrated. If this is improved, it gets full marks.

We value Crystal Jade quite high, and believe its Sauteed Eel w/ Chive Shoot $60 would be a very good item. In fact, this dish would be better in quality if fresher eel is used. But the manager said maybe the sauces added are not enough, the eel is surely a fresh one. What we can say is that this dish is not poor; it cannot get 4 out of 5.

Sauteed Fresh Soybean w/ Bean Curd Leaves & Preserved Vegetable $48 is a vegetarian item. No extra salt, sugar and oil are added. It is a representative of good Shanghai cuisine.

Fried Rice w/ Shrimp & Preserved Vegetable $55 is optimal in quality. No extra oil is added. We finish this fried rice in the shortest time period. When this picture is processed, the fried rice of delicious taste comes to my mind again, and the saliva cannot be controlled.

Baked Shredded Radish Cake was one of the best items in former Crystal Jade Taikoo. We order as we hope to recall the good memory at the end of this meal. This time, the radish cake is quite wet in content. It is still tasty and the content is still very hot.

Crystal Jade Taikoo was a restaurant of Shanghai foods we loved very much. When it was closed 2 years before (not sure), we then stopped visiting Crystal Jade. It is because in our mind, the best Chef of Crystal Jade is in Taikoo Shing.

Normally, to queue up for at least one hour was common in Taikoo no matter whether it was lunch or dinner. This month, when we passed by Grand Cuisine and found that except the restaurant name, everything seemed to be unchanged. The waitress also said everything including the chef has not yet unchanged. This is the reason for us to dine in Crystal Jade Taikoo again. We do have expectation of Taikoo this time.

At 1830 in the evening, we still need to wait for a while. Sauteed Eel w/ Chive Shoot $60, Smoked Fish $42, Sauteed Fresh Soybean w/ Bean Curd Leaves & Preserved Vegetable $48, and Fried Rice w/ Shrimp & Preserved Vegetable $55, Baked Shredded Radish Cake are ordered. The bill is $259 (average per head $130).

Crystal Jade seems to be able to maintain its quality, service and long queue. Strictly speaking, its food quality has dropped a bit. It is still very much better than the general level of Shanghai foods in the catering field. One more information to tell you is that Crystal Jade should be a company of Singapore capital. Its foods are tasty but it is a bit different from the Shanghai food of Lu Lu Restaurant in Wanchai. We seldom try in Crystal Jade other than this Taikoo outlet, as they only offer average quality Shanghai foods.
