Hainan Village Recipe Duck Rice 海南嘉積鴨飯 $45. Chilled duck is chilled duck. Though the meat texture is better than that of frozen one, it still lacks the taste of duck meat. Set drink is included.
We have talked with the cashier / the lady boss about the duck meat. She said there is no fresh duck now in Hong Kong, this is beyond the restaurant's control. Besides, the duck skin itself tells you it is not fresh, but chilled. This can also be used to judge a chicken freshness.
Hainan Chicken Rice 正宗海南雞飯 $53 is claimed to be the original Singaporean style, mainly because of 3 different sauces. Soya sauce is a good match with chicken.
Fresh chicken skin is different.
Chicken is surely fresh one. There is a strong flavour of fresh chicken meat, this flavour is not available in chilled chicken meat. Apart from the Hainan Chicken Rice in Hotel (which we have not yet tried), this is the only fresh chicken we encounter.
Chicken rice is quite good in taste, though the best available and found should be the chicken rice from "Good Satay" in Tsim Sha Tsui East.
The restaurant has no difference from Cha Chaan Teng. Comfortable environment should not be expected.

Hainan Chicken Rice always comes to my mind these days. It is not an ambition, but if there is such chance, why not to have a try. Though we had tried the same restaurant in Sheung Wan before, the comment was average only. It is the first time to try in Hung Hom. We order 2 dinner sets, namely Hainan Village Recipe Duck Rice 海南嘉積鴨飯 $45 and Hainan Chicken Rice正宗海南雞飯 $53. The bill is $98.
Gold Leave should have the intention to behave to be a restaurant to serve foods from Hainan, from the menu and its posters outside the restaurant. Apart from the fresh chicken meat
that is not commonly available in Hainan Chicken Rice in Hong Kong, food quality is only average. Besides the Hainan Chicken rice, Satay is also commonly ordered by other diners. But the diners next to our table complained that the chicken meat in Satay is of frozen meat quality.
The best Hainan Chicken Rice ever found should be a combination of Chicken Rice from Good Satay in Tsim Sha Tsui East and Hainan Chicken meat from Gold Leave.
