Steamed River Fish is unexpectedly large in size.

Though this fish is very large in size, its meat is still tender but not too soft. The meat (in both sides of the fish) into the form of slices is put on top of the backbone. In between the bone and meat slices, there are black fungus and dried daylily. This is fresh and delicious dish, cooked in a healthy way. This is a fantastic and safe dish for those who do not like or those who have difficulty in eating fish with bone.

Deep-fried Stuffs - fishes and cuttlefish.

Steamed Chicken (whole bird) is not impressive in appearance. It is in fact in good taste, strong in chicken flavor. The meat is bouncy good in texture. This chicken is fresh.

Fried Lettuce with Minced Pork.

Western Desserts, like cheesecake, mango pudding, strawberry pudding and others (tiramisu, chocolate pudding ..) are served in high quality. It is quite strange to eat western desserts in-house in a Chinese restaurant. Photos of some dishes and desserts have not been taken as situation deteriorates and everything comes to a mess at the end.

Tak Fat Restaurant is also an eatery with local decoration and furnishing. In other words, there is no special interior decoration. It does not matter, what we are looking for is delicacy. Tak Fat is a bit different from other local restaurants serving Chinese foods. Apart from the boss who is a 'young' man, waitresses are mainly local young girls, instead of those ladies migrated to Hong Kong not long before in other restaurants.
We are allotted to a table on the Mezzanine floor, at which tables are packed. In addition, it is a very noisy environment when it is full. In our observation, it must be full every night. It is better to have more diners in a meal. If not, you have to share the table with other unknown diners.
We order 6 dishes and several desserts, average spending is about $110. Food portion is not particularly generous (we expect it should be generous beforehand), but of course not too small. Food taste is definitely up to our expectation or a bit exceeding our expectation. The chefs are very sophisticated and know how to cook and present the foods in the best available manner. We are contented to try dishes of high quality, particularly the steamed chicken and steamed fish. Other dishes are good too. It is out of our expectation that western desserts, like chocolate pudding, tiramisu, cheesecake, souffle and others, are served in a restaurant serving Chinese food, but also at very high quality. It is very impressive.
This does not mean that Tak Fat is omnipotent. The dining environment is surely not pleasing. This is the factor you have to consider and a trade-off has to be made.
