Kwan Kee Noodle does give us a pleasing and refreshing first impression. It is more hygenic than those noodle shops in the vicinity. Photos of most food items are displayed on the wall, just order the items in photos you like most.

This dried shrimp roe soup is served together with the noode below. The shop claims that soup is made from boiling dried fish. We also do not think that too much msg has been added, if any.

Hot Chili Sauce w/ Sliced Pork Noodle is not enticing in appearance. It is in fact a mess of orange red substance. Noodle texture is quite al dente. In view of Chinese noodle, it is already very very good and we do not experience any 'soap' flavour. Roasted pig oil has been added to noodle, further enhancing noodle quailty. This is in fact a very delicious noodle. Hot chili sauce is not too spicy to me, but it should be spicy enough to most diners. Btw, if less corn starch is used in making the sauce, the overall picture would be much pleasing and this noodle can get a rating of 4/5.

Marinated Pork (five pieces) is served with the bowl of noodle in soup below. Pork quality is good, but the best available flavour and texture have not been attained. It is suggested to boil in marinated sauce for longer time. I prefer tender meat texture and thickened sauce. This is in fact a combo set of four items, including this marinated pork, a bowl of noodle in photo below, a plate of vegetable of generous portion and a soybean milk or chrysanthemum tea (photos for vegetable and drink have not been posted here). For medical use of chrysanthemum tea, please click here.

Noodle served in this way is better for us to carry out the experiment. Soup is natural and tasty. Noodle texture is bouncy and not too tender. We do not experience any 'soap' flavour too. Roasted pig oil has been added, it is evidenced in the photo. In our experience, Kwan Kee Noodle should be one of the top five in Hong Kong.

Kwan Kee Noodle should be the best noodle shop in Cheung Sha Wan and Shum Shui Po. It does not have any branch in other district and the shop is of normal size only. It is not like other noodle shops. Once there are introductions in the media, they would increase the number of branches immediately. In so doing, they all cannot maintain noodle and overall quality and bad word of mouth is always the result.

We have not ordered wonton noodle this time. (NB: In our mind, the best wonton noodle is on Hong Kong Island. You all know that noodle shop very much, there is no need to further mention here.) Hot chili sauce with sliced pork noodle and noodle with marinated pork are ordered. Comparatively we cannot say these two noodles are of impeccable quality, they are only above average. But its noodle texture can be regarded as top quality category, this has to be appreciated and is mainly because of noodle quality itself and the time control in boiling noodle.

We must try again in Kwan Kee Noodle next time. We would like to try other items in the menu and witness the making of noodle in the showroom. We have to visit regularly in order that such quality noodle and such quality noodle shop would be able to survive continuously.
