Cheung Uk Tsuen (張屋村) should have been uninhabited for a long time. This can be proved and evidenced by the natural grass around the houses. This should be a row of five to six houses of bricks and cement. Cheung Uk is a Grade II Historic Building.
Most people would like to live in urban area, for convenience, job and others.
In the past, it should have its glorious period. If not, it should not be able to support the needs of drinks and snacks in this small village.
Only Number 11, i.e. the address of Fat Kee Soft Drink, has the shop name in Chinese character on the top. All doors have been damaged. Or, there is no need to have door, in order that trespassers cannot stay in the houses. Inside the houses, there is no more furniture but rubbish. After so many years (I guess there should be at least fifty years), structure of the houses is not good, there is chance of collapse suddenly. Or, it is dangerous to stay inside the houses.
In front of the houses, there is a large piece of open area. It may be the field for growing crops in the past.
Common reed is commonly found in the countryside of Hong Kong. It is crucial to enhance the quality of this picture.
Originally we do not know Fat Kee is a shop selling soft drink. But after a while in Cheung Uk Tsuen, and from different angle, we notice that the wordings "soft drink" can barely be seen and legible. We therefore know a little more about the past of Cheung Uk Tsuen.
