Lei Yue Mun 鯉魚門

Lei Yue Mun (鯉魚門) is a short channel between Junk Bay and Victoria Harbour. The land around the channel on Kowloon side is also called Lei Yue Mun. Literally, 鯉魚(Lei Yue in Cantonese) means Common Carp. Lei Yue Mun is now famous for its seafood market and restaurants. Normally, Lei Yue Mun now refers to the place for buying and eating seafood.

By MTR, the closest station is Yau Tong. It takes about ten minutes by walk from the MTR Station to Lei Yue Mun. It is also connected by Minibus to Kwun Tong, and ferry to Sai Wan Ho on Hong Kong Island.




Traditional Chinese cakes are one of the souvenirs in Lei Yue Mun. Besides, salted dried fish and seafood are also famous.

There are many seafood restaurants in Lei Yue Mun. Selection of restaurant is very important, and would affect the overall meal quality and price greatly. Please note.












These are mainly one to two storeys residential constructions along the coast. Beyond this house cluster, it is the Tin Hau Temple of Lei Yue Mun.




It is not far away from Yau Tong and is opposite to Shau Kei Wan of Hong Kong Island.



Lei Yue Mun has not yet been developed into a concrete forest in 2013. It is still kept in its original appearance. If you would like to have something different in an afternoon and spend your time meaningfully, you may select to visit Lei Yue Mun. Its constructions are quite different from other districts in Hong Kong.
