Sam Shan King is talking about the three deities in Guangdong province. The celebration of Sam Shan King Festival becomes a chance for the villages to get together. Among all Sam Shan King Temples in Hong Kong, this one is the largest.
Behind the temple, there is a large rock, which is quite
flat on its four surfaces, the nearby area is therefore called Ping Shek
'坪石', which means stone of flat surface.
Sam Shan King Temple in Ngau Chi Wan was built at more than one
hundred ago. It was formerly near the sea shore, it is now an inland
temple. But the original Sam Shan King Temple is not at the present
location, it was also in Ngau Chi Wan anyway. From that time onwards, Sam Shan
King Temple becomes an important temple among the villages nearby.
There are four memorial stones in the temple to record the years of renovation, namely 1946, 1965, 1970 and 1992. The temple has a history of more than one hundred years.
This is the memorial stone dated 1992.
Sam Shan King Festival is celebrated on the fifteen days of the second full moon in Chinese calendar. Besides the five days four nights Chinese opera, there are also kirin dance from different villages. There is also large-scale feast (about 30 - 40 tables) on the open area in front of the temple.
There is no fortune teller in the temple to explain the meaning of your fortune note.
