Yue Tat is a small cha chaan teng in Mongkok.

To describe it to be old-fashioned and retrospective, it is correct and must not be wrong. It is found that Yue Tat should have several names, like 裕達(吉祥)冰室, Yue Tat Kat Cheung Coffee Shop, and Eudard Café.

From the appearance, it is a cha chaan teng, with a faded brick red colour signage. It should have not been renovated for more than ten years. If it is a new or relatively new one, maybe, the motive for me to visit Yuen Tat would not be so great. The layout is an elongated rectangle. There are wooden booth seats on both sides. Floor and wall tiles are those of more than 40 years’ history, I guess. There is no other decoration on the ceiling, the original white painting on the ceiling is now smoked to brownish yellow colour. This is a proof of time.

Yue Tat should be run by a family. It seems that they are not the relation of employer and employee. We have to thank for the maintenance of Yue Tat Café. If not, we cannot have the experience of dining in an antique cha chaan teng.
