Forum Restaurant (富臨飯店) is a restaurant renowned for its abalone (Ah Yat’s Abalone阿一鮑魚). It is located at 485 Lockhart Road, Causeway Bay , Hong Kong (香港銅鑼灣駱克道485號恆景大廈地下). Forum was established in 1977, this means it has a history of 36 years in 2013. It was awarded one Michelin Star in 2009 and 2010 respectively by the Michelin Guide Hong Kong.


Mr. Yeung Koon Yat is the Chairman of the Association of Restaurant Managers Limited. He was in the culinary field when he was 16 years old. His signature dish must be the internationally renowned Ah Yat’s Abalone (阿一鮑魚), which has been savored by many heads of state and government officials. From 1983 onwards, restaurant business in Hong Kong was greatly affected by wave of mass migration. At that time, abalone had not been adopted as the main dish by most restaurants. Because of his accurate observation and vision, abalone dishes are welcomed by diners and the business of Forum Restaurant has been going up from that time onwards.


In 1996, Yeung was awarded the gold medal by Club Des Chefs Des ChefsC.C.C.by the International Imperial Kitchen Association. Up till now, only three persons in the world have been honored and awarded this gold medal, the other two persons are the Imperial Chefs of former French and American Presidents.


The founder and master chef is Mr. Yeung Koon Yat (楊貫一).

Yeung was also invited by the Singapore Airline to design the on-board menu for passengers. In October 2004, Yang was awarded the Lifelong Achievement Supreme Prize by the China Hotel Association (中國飯店協). Up till now, he is the first and the only person to have such award. In 2005, a Yeung Koon Yat Fund was established to promote and cultivate high-level talents in the dining field.


Mr. Yeung is now 81-year-old in 2013. Because of high rental in Causeway Bay, he has not renewed the contract for Lockhart Road shop, but decided to move to Sino Plaza nearby. The new area of about 10,000 sq ft in one floor is much larger than the present one in Lockhart Road.  He added it is not easy to start a restaurant of selling abalone as the main dish. It is not because the rental is high, but because there is not sufficient supply of quality abalone.
