Tin Sum Village, also called Tin Sum Wai (田心圍), is a cluster of cement houses in Tai Wai, Shatin, New Territories. The houses now are mostly of 3 storeys. The village was in fact built in Ming Dynasty. It has about 400 years’ history.
It is not far away from Tai Wai Station.
The constructions are mainly of three storeys.
From the map, there are 269 blocks of house in Tin Sum, they are orderly aligned. This is a pure residential area. Inside the village, there are restaurants, property agency, nursery, bikes rental, hairdresser, clinic and shrine. All these can satisfy the basic daily needs only. But there is no supermarket and convenience store.
Tin Sum should be the target of property developers. This piece of land is large enough to build a large private housing estate of at least eight blocks. Tin sum anyway is the kind of village in Hong Kong about thirty years before.
On the date of our visit, we found an eatery (Wistful Cafe) in Tin Sum, serving quality meal at reasonable price. Is it also the provider of your delicious lunch?
