Some illegal constructions can be found on the roof.

It is located at the beginning of Temple Street.

No. 3-5 Temple Street is a construction of four storeys, built before the Second World War. It is now painted in cream yellow colour.

On the ground floor, it is now a grocery store, selling cigarette, soft drink and consumble. This photo is taken at No. 5 of Temple Street. Please note the details of construction on the pillar and its top end.

Before the Second World War, it was common to find shops on the ground floor. The upper floor was for the shop owner and his family to live. Normally, such buildings were of two to four storeys. They are called Tenement House or Shophouse (in Chinese: 唐樓). In the 21st century, there are still many such Tenement Houses or Shophouses which are in good shape in Hong Kong.

Number 3 and number 5 of Temple Street.

This is of course equipped with no firemen's lift.

From the ground floor to the second floor, there are totally 40 steps. The width is about two feet.

It is taken at the entrance of the building. It is really too too too steep.

It is taken on the second floor.

The government has tried its best to preserve buildings of value and history all over Hong Kong. No. 3-5 Temple Street is one of the examples and buildings to be preserved. The building, after more than seventy years, is still in shape and condition in 2014. I guess, this building in Temple Street is going to be preserved for the next thirty years.
