Lau Sin Street (留仙街) is a
short street in Tin Hau (天后). It is composed of two parts, a normal
street for vehicles and a stone stair for pedestrians. It provides convenience to citizens, particularly for those living at Tin Hau Temple Street (天后廟道). It is definitely a short-cut to King's Road (英皇道).
This
part of Lau Sin Street is not so famous as the one at Duddell Street
(都爹利街) in Central (中環). Anyway because it is stone stair, it is needed
to make a record. This stone stair should have more than fifty history,
this is what I guess.
Though this stone stair has a history of more than fifty years, the stones are still in good condition and shape.
Stones of large size can be seen clearly. Green lichen can also be found on stone surface.
The original stone stair should have no
renovation. There is no need to have regular renovation because
weathering would not occur easily on stone surface under normal
situation. The stone stair is quite unique in Hong Kong. It may be a props for outdoor photo-taking with models.
