Originally there were three Lin Heung Tea Houses in Hong Kong. At present, there is only one at 160-164 Wellington Street, Central. This Lin Heung was founded in 1918, before the Second World War. It is now 94 years old, in 2014. Lin Heung is located at the junction of Wellington Street and Aberdeen Street, it is a building without lift. It serves dim sums, lunch and dinner from 6am to 11pm. There is no 10% service charge.

For all diners, there is no reservation, they have to find / select their seats by themselves. There is also no VIP room. All diners have to accept to sit with other strangers on the same table. Dim sums are served on trolleys. In the mornings and on Sundays, Lin Heung is always crowded with diners. On the walls of the tea house, there are Chinese landscape painting and calligraphy. There is a Chinese cake shop on the ground floor, immediately next to the main entrance. All cakes and lotus seed paste are home-made by its own factory in Chaiwan (柴灣).

To dine in Lin Heung, it is definitely a nice and memorable experience. In 2014, we can still dine in a tea house which is nearly one hundred years old, it is unbelievable. We have to take time, for fear that once the building is redeveloped, it is not possible to find a Chinese restaurant of similar style and nostalgic atmosphere. Lin Heung is really different from other Chinese restaurants in Hong Kong. No matter whether you are locals or tourists, it is needed to have a try, at least once.
