Having checked the internet, there are in fact several Tai Wong Ye Temples (大王爺廟) in Hong Kong. They include the ones in Wan Chai (灣仔), Tai Po (大埔), Stanley (赤柱) and Wong Chuk Hang (黃竹坑). This Tai Wong Ye Temple is located at Nam Long Shan Road in Wong Chuk Hang (南朗山道) and next to the Nam Long Shan Cooked Food Centre (南朗山道熟食市場).

At the time of taking photos, Tai Wong Ye Temple is under regular renovation. A full picture of the temple is not possible to take (but one is borrowed from wikipedia), since the temple is celebrating the Chinese Ghost Festival (on the fourteen day of the seventh lunar month).

Wong Chuk Hang was built in 1983. Basically Tai Wong Ye Temple is a Chinese style construction, with yellowish brown colored roof. The height is much higher than other Chinese temples in Hong Kong. Maybe, because of its short history. It does give me a feeling that the temple is much younger. Inside the temple, there are some modern ingredients, enabling the temple to be different from other temples of traditional style or over 100 history in Hong Kong.

Since the ceiling is high, the temple is not fuming. Maybe, there are regular maintenance, the temple is not very dark in colour and it should be cleaned regularly.

Kirins on the wall at the front of temple.

A four-faced buddha outside the temple.
