This is the only Tin Hau Temple
located at Tin Hau Temple Road in Tin Hau of Hong Kong Island. All other
Tin Hau Temples are not located at Tin Hau Temple Road. Construction of
this Tin Hau Temple dates back to 1747 (the date of the temple bell).
This
Temple is one of the many dedicated to Tin
Hau, goddess of the sea, and it is a good example of temple
architecture of the period. Basically there is no big change in the
temple. Of course, irregular renovation is a must. The front part of
this temple does give me a very old impression. There should be no
renovation of this front part for about twenty years, I guess. But it is
this oldness telling us that it should have a long history.
Address: 10 Tin Hau Temple Road, Tin Hau, Hong Kong. 港島天后廟道十號 (3 minutes' walk from MTR Tin Hau Station Exit B)
Opening hours: 07:00-17:00 daily
In front of the temple, there is a relatively large piece of land for gathering.
A platform is specially built by rocks.
There should be gradual renovation on different sections of the temple.
