Yue
Man Square (裕民坊) is the centre of Kwun Tong in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is next
to Kwun Tong MTR Station (the closest Exit is A1). Because of its
specific location in Kwun Tong, it is also a centre of traffic, shopping
and dining. Buildings are mostly of less than ten storeys. This should be
very tall at the time of construction, maybe, about fifty years before.
Hong Kong Government has announced to redevelop Yue Man Square and the
area nearby (bounded by the pentagon in the above map). It is a bit
pitiful and a norm that some old stuffs would be replaced and
redeveloped in the course of time.
We
do not visit Kwun Tong regularly. When there is such an opportunity, it
is needed to record and experience, and take photos of the outlook of
Yue Man Square before they disappear in the world. Most probably after
the redevelopment, it should be a cluster of modern buildings, residential and commercial, or becomes another Causeway Bay in Kowloon.
This is to record the affected spot, with exact location, name of building and shop.
Silver Theatre should have a glorious history. It should have been waiting for redevelopment for a long time.
It should be a 'temporary bazaar' in Kwun Tong for many many years.
Buildings in the surrrondings are of three to four storeys only.
Bus terminal
This is taken from MTR Station.
It is now still a cluster of old buildings.
It is adjacent to Kwun Tong MTR Station and Kwun Tong Road.
This is taken from a bookstore in APM, which is a modern mall in Kwun Tong.
We do not expect to take the best view of Yue Man Square area is from this bookstore.
