Chu
Tai Sin Festival is held on 1 - 4 July in 2011 (or the First four days
of the Sixth Month in Lunar Calendar), the date of celebration may vary
every year. It is informed that, in 2011, Chu Tai Sin Festival has been celebrating for about sixty years. Besides, the festival is also celebrated in Macau.
Chu Tai Sin Festival is not commonly worshipped in Hong Kong temples
and Chu Tai Sin is not a popular god. One temple in Sham Shui Poand Tai O
each would also celebrate Chu Tai Sin.
Different
from other festival activities on land, it is an activity held in the
sea. The festival is celebrated in Aberdeen Typhoon Sheltersin 2011.
Same as other Chinese festivals, the purpose of celebrating Chu Tai Sin
Festival is to bless the followers, bring luck and peace to the fishermen.
Free shuttle boat is served for the whole day.
Several ships are connected to form a cluster in the middle of Aberdeen Typhoon Shelters.
Ships are connected together in such a way, the main altar is in this Master Ship.
Three Buddhas are worshipped.
The three-fingered palm is nice though there is room of improvement in craftsmanship.
Colored flags and red lanterns are hung to the mast.
The festival is mainly to worship Chu Tai Sin, Gautama Buddhaand Guanyin.
This is an idol taking care of food provision and clothing.
The festival is to bless the followers and fishermen with peace and luck.

In 2012, Chu Tai Sin Festival will be held from 26 July to 28 July.
