It is a live museum. In Tai Lee, it seems that it is covered by a white veil, and it does not belong to 21st century.
We can see the decoration and design of at least 40 years before.
Table, wall and floor tiles, colours, and wooden bench are all evidences of its past.
Simply order a set with rice vermicelli and milk tea. For a meal set of about HK$22, basically there should not be any expectation. But it turns out that it is not bad.
Very generous rice vermicelli in soup. This implies that most other eateries are profiteering.
Hot milk tea should be served in such thick ceramic cup, in order that tea temperature would not drop suddenly, thereby maintaining the quality of milk tea.

Tai Lee Café is an old eatery of local style in Sham Shui Po. It is not too close to the MTR, it is therefore not commonly found by passers-by who are not dwellers in Sham Shui Po. Tai Lee is very unique in its outlook and interior. The signage is in old shabby pale brown colour. There is basically no decoration inside, or the decoration in the past was like this. Upper part of wall is white in colour, while the lower part pale green tiles. Such combination is very peculiar for old style café or cha chaan teng.
There are booth seats on both sides of the café, the booth is made of wood. They should have been used for more than fifty years, I guess. The floor tiles are small in size and of different colours. All these are the evidences of time.
In fact, food is not the main item to pursue in the visit to Tai Lee Café. The pursue this time is to have a dining experience in an old café. No rice is offered in Tai Lee. What are served here include noodle, rice vermicelli, bread, bun and drink. Even though food materials are simple, Tai Lee can still cook with a very high standard, particularly in view of its price. If you are lover of old café in Hong Kong, you should rush to try here.
