Temple
Street (廟街) is located in Jordan and Yaumatei in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It
is a night market, and becomes a place of interest in Hong Kong for the
locals and tourists. It is, also called Men's Street, a place to be introduced in travel books in the world.
At this point of Temple Street Night Market, there is a Memorial Archway Gate (Paifang).
At the opposite side of the memorial archway gate, there are many stalls of fortune-telling.
They provide services in Chinese fortune-telling, Tarot, Fung Shui and others.
Some fortune-tellers can provide service in English, Cantonese,
Mandarin and Japanese to cater for the need of tourists. Some are even
teachers of their respective profession.
Not far away, there are four groups of singer, under their own
temporary canopy. In the past, there should be more singing groups. It
is said that they cannot earn their living because of keen competition.
They play live music. There are male and female singers to sing in
turn. Some fans would sit together, with drinks, to listen and enjoy
themselves.
Anybody can request them to song any specified songs, if the singers
can. They normally sing those old songs in Cantonese, Mandarin and
English.
