Enkianthus
Quinqueflorus (吊鐘 in Chinese character, Diao Zhong in Mandarin,Tiu
Chung in Cantonese) is a Chinese New Year Flower. It is a flower
commonly found in South China, Hunan, Fujian and Hong Kong. It grows at
about 400 to 2,400 metres above sea level. Flowering period is from
January to March.

On the way near High Island Reservoir, there are quite a lot of beautiful pink flowers in March 2012.

It is now in spring and raining season has not started.

To
shot from the bottom and with sunny blue sky, the best contrast can be
taken. This is very impressive. This is also the first time to see a
cluster of pink flowers in such a short distant. I realize in Hong Kong
we can also have beautiful flowers in our countryside.

Once again, this is very fascinating.

Flower is like a bell, and normally red or pink in colour in a cluster of five to eight pieces.

From horizontal level, flowers are not so impressive. It is only a cluster of blossoming pink flowers.

Leaves are long and narrow, in brownish red colour.

From this angle, it is definitely not attractive.
