Ho Kai School is a primary school, abandoned in the 80s. It was founded in 1953, the location is near the ancestral hall. It is 62 years old in 2015.
In its heyday, there were about 400 pupils.
It was the first Government aided primiary school in Sheung Shui. Because of the change in demographic structure, the school was closed in 1990.
The school is still good in structure and outlook. It must be the result of regular renovation. This is the main building.
Ho Kai School should be composed of four blocks in L-shape, it also has a large playground.
Two blocks are now used by Yummy House, as a warehouse to sell food items. There are quite a lot of visitors during weekends.
The villagers should still be eager to keep the school. If not, it will be very dirty and gives us an impression it is going to collapse. Imho, even though Hong Kong is now prosperous, some old stuffs, like this old primary school, should be kept.
