Aberdeen Technical School (ATS) was constructed in 1935, it is 80 years old in 2015. The school is now celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2015. It was founded by a Catholic Salesian and is now a government aided school. It was formerly called 'Aberdeen children's craft School 香港仔兒童工藝院'.
ATS should be built on real land, this means it is not built on reclaimed land. From record, in the past, some part of Wong Chuk Hang was sea.
Because of 80th anniversary, the school has been renovated. The oil station next to the school has been vacated. But in 2015, it is now under renovation to prepare for the new tenant, a new oil company. This cream colour building is the extension block.
This Aberdeen Praya Road should be built on reclaimed land, I guess.
ATS is the oldest school in Aberdeen. It is now a Grade III Historic Building.
The construction style is different from those built in 2000.
It should have its glorious moment in the past, as competition was definitely not keen.
Adjacent to main road, air-con and noise partition are needed.
It has 29 standard classrooms, 20 classes, 60 teachers, can accommodate a maximum of 1,200 boy students. It has about 840 students in 2013-2014. The school provided boarding service to students from 1935 to 1990, this service resumes for students living in the New Territories 2012. A new extention building was constructed in 2006.
