Try their best to get into the compartment

On the MTR station platform, I often find that when the train arrives at the platform and the doors open, people outside try their best to get into the compartment as quickly as possible, regardless of whether anyone is still in the compartment or whether the people in the compartment have not come out yet.
They all tried their best to squeeze themselves into the compartment first because they could increase their chances of getting a seat.
These people include people of all ages, including the elderly, middle-aged people, children, women and men.
Why do they do this? So pathetic.
