Cantonese steamed ricesheet roll is a very famous traditional snack in Guangdong. It belongs to Cantonese cuisine and originated from Guangdong Province during the Tang Dynasty. The classification of rice rolls can only be divided according to their production methods. The ones made by cloth are called cloth ricesheet rolls, and the ones that are steamed directly in a drawer are usually called drawer-style ricesheet rolls.
Ricesheet roll is a transparent, roll-shaped food made of powdered pulp or wheat starch, with a soft and elastic texture.
Now the ricesheet rolls are filled with beef, pork slices, fish slices, frozen shrimp (but it is usually called fresh shrimp), Cantonese barbecue pork, mushrooms, but now spring rolls, pig liver, and roast duck are also added.
It is very common for Hong Kong people to eat ricesheet rolls, and they are sold in teahouses, restaurants, dim sum shops, and even convenience stores.
