「新型蚊子陷阱」內加入清水，定期在水中添加能作用於蚊子上的藥劑，讓被引誘至陷阱產卵的雌蚊身上沾上藥劑，當雌蚊飛離陷阱，到附近地點活動或產卵 時，就會將藥劑帶到周圍的積水位置，做到阻截蚊子幼蟲羽化為成蚊的效果；由於雌蚊身上已沾有藥劑，故亦會在幾天後死亡。
